Origin: California, Italy

Extraction Method: Citrus oils are cold pressed from the rind of a fruit. This actually makes them expressed oils, which are technically not essential oils but highly regarded for their therapeutic properties.

Since pesticide residues become highly concentrated in the rind of a fruit be sure you buy an oil from organically grown crops.

Uses: The essential oils lemon has been extensively studied for its anti-bacterial properties. It is effective in killing meningococcus, staphylococcus aureus, pneumococcus, and diphtheria bacteria.

  • If you feel a cold coming on add some to your diffuser and spend a few minutes in front of it
  • I love adding two drops of lemon oil to a spoon of agave syrup and stirring it into a cup of hot tea. Soothing to the throat
Limonene, one of its main constituents, is being researched for its ability to combat tumor growth.

More properties and uses:

  • immune stimulant , increases white blood cells
  • anti-parasitic, fights parasites
  • solvent - lemon essential oil dissolves petrochemicals. It's an excellent sticker remover and dissolves chewing gum in mere seconds. Just rub a drop or two on the area undiluted. May leave a slight stain on clothing which washes out.
Caution: Citrus oils are photo sensitizing. Avoid applying them to areas of the skin that are exposed to the sun. They may cause the skin to brown if this happens.

Application: Preferably dilute lemon essential oil at 50-50, when applying to the skin or taking internally, meaning 1 drop of oil to 1 drop of vegetable oil.

Diffuse using a diffuser with nebulizer.

Use a 4oz.glass spray bottle, filled with distilled water, and make your own air purifier/disinfectant. Add 10 to 15 drops lemon. Spray on counter tops for immediate anti-bacterial action.
