Frankincense (Boswellia carteri)

Botanical Family: Burseraceae (frankincense and myrrh)

Uses: A wonderful anti-depressant essential oil and a natural remedy for just about any complaint. It is extremely versatile due to its unique composition.

My favorite sleeping remedy. A drop behind each ear, a good whiff and off I go. When I wake up in the morning I remember vivid dreams, colorful and intense. Can you imagine our mental state of mind if we did not dream and let go during the night.

One of the few essential oils that contain -sesquiterpenes-, molecules that are able to cross the blood/brain barrier. Few substances can do this, making Frankinsense an interesting candidate for further research regarding brain diseases like Parkinsons.

(Ses-kwee-ter-penes) stimulate the limbic system of the brain and other glands within the brain, promoting memory and releasing emotions.

More properties and uses:
This biblical oil has a "spiritual aroma". Balmy, woodsy, earthen.
Research shows it to be
- antitumoral : cancer
- immunostimulant : auto-immune diseases
- antidepressant : depression, spiritual issues

Application:
- Inhale by placing a drop or two in the palm of your hands, cup over your nose and mouth and sniff, sniff, sniff deeply.
- Diffuse into the air using a diffuser. A quality oil is expensive, use sparingly!
- Apply to the skin. As always, the bottom of the feet are a very safe place to apply oils. For the mind, apply directly behind the ears and at the base of the neck. A drop or two is all that is needed.
- Take internally. Dilute one drop in 4oz. of soy or rice milk.Frankincense oil has also been added to supplements in specially designed gel caps.
