How to Use Essential oils

Q: How is one to use these oils, are they to ingest or inhale them? Are any used for hypertension and diabetes?

ANSWER Essential oils are the most potent part of the plant and have a very complex molecular structure. They absorb very easily through the skin, especially on the bottom of the feet, so you can simply apply a few drops to the feet to get a desired effect.

In studies essential oil ingredients have been found back in heart and brain tissue within twenty minutes of applying the oil to the bottom of the feet. Some people even taste the oil in their mouth after applying it to their feet.

Inhalation is a great way of having essential oils affect the body. As essential oils evaporate and you breathe them in, they stimulate the olfactory bulb at the base of the brain (smell organ inside the top of the nose). This sends lots of messages to our brain which in turn affect hormones and mental function and has the ability to calm hypertension. Lavender is one of those oils which calms tension.

Ingesting essential oils is also possible but only with very pure, therapeutic grade essential oils. You can imagine that if these oils are so potent you would want to have very pure ingredients and not adulterated oils. (Learn more about oil quality here)

Start ingesting oils once you are comfortable with all the other wonderful ways of applying them.

Diabetes has a great friend in essential oils. Fennel, coriander, dill, cinnamon and clove are all indicated for use with diabetes. You would simply apply these oils to the feet several times a day, perhaps two drops at a time.

As every body is different you will have different results with oils you use. For some cinnamon may show a greater drop in blood sugar levels, for others this may be dill. You need to experiment with your oils and find out which work best for you.
