Mid Back Nerve Pain

Q: What oil can I rub in to my back to relieve nerve pain?
A: If you have neuralgia (nerve pain from a damaged nerve) you would want to use essential oils that are anti-inflammatory and may help to repair nerves.
Good choices are peppermint, wintergreen, juniper, marjoram and lavender. Of course, the PanAway blend from Young Living is also a first choice. It's part of their starter kit.
In case of nerve pain and inflammation take care not to use heat on the back. Instead apply a few drops of a chosen essential oil to the spine or area of pain and cover with a cool compress.
Let the compress work the oils deeper into the tissue for about ten minutes. Follow by massaging a few drops of vegetable oil over the area to effectively "seal in" the essential oils.
Nerve pain may also be caused by viral activity such as shingles. You can learn more about shingles and PHN (postherpetic neuralgia) here.
Hope this helps.
