Natural Remedy for Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)

providing you use GRADE A Tea Tree oil.

Pink eye is caused by an infection or inflammation of the thin membrane that covers the white portion of the eyes and inner surface of the eyelids.

It's a common infection that can easily be spread, especially by children.They love to rub their eyes and then touch common surfaces like door knobs where other children will pick it up. Use your disinfecting natural spray on surfaces and hands!

Only the doctor can tell you if the infection is bacterial or viral or caused by allergic reactions. In all three instances Melaleuca, or Tea Tree oil, the purest grade you can obtain (most store brands only offer a food grade Tea Tree oil), is a certain hit with infections and inflammations. An excellent natural remedy for pink eye.

It's quite gentle to skin and has both potent anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. This is oil number two in my first aid kit.

Application method: Dilute one drop of Melaleuca in five drops of vegetable oil and rub in a wide circle around the eyes several times a day. Don't get too close, through blinking and rubbing it will find its way to the infection. Rub some on your temples too.

Try alternating above application with Lavender.


Spending a few minutes in the neighborhood of an electric diffuser with nebulizer with Melaleuca is also a very effective way to expose the eyes to healing properties from the oil .
